My Story
When I was attending Dickinson College, I tried 3 different majors before I graduated with a BA in English. While I loved the diverse repertoire of knowledge I acquired from those classes, my English professors and the curriculum they created engaged and challenged me more than any other discipline.
After 17 years as a passionate student, and after 10 years of teaching and tutoring students in various English subjects and grade levels, I know that all learning starts with engagement.
Over the past 10 years, I have strived to create engaging lessons and elevated curriculum that has propelled students to success - from being accepted into ivy league schools, getting passing scores on AP exams and IB exams, to expanding their worldview - my approach to teaching and learning has continually contributed to student achievement.
Engage.
WE ENGAGE STUDENTS SO THAT THEY CAN TAKE CONTROL OF THEIR LEARNING.
In order for students to learn, students need to remain present and engaged. We understand that it is our responsibility to engage your student by making the content that we teach both relevant and interesting. However, it is also the student's responsibility to come to class ready to learn. Part of our commitment is to work with your student to help them stay engaged throughout their session.
Our Values
Learn.
WE ADVOCATE FOR CLEAR AND CONCISE TEACHING INFORMED BY STUDENT DATA
Even if a student is engaged, learning takes energy and brainpower. We want to streamline this process so that we use every minute of our time together effectively. This is why clear and concise teaching, informed by data, increases achievement. The less time students are concerned with understanding our teaching, the more time they can spend learning the content.
Achieve
WE BELIEVE A GROWTH MINDSET IS INTEGRAL TO LASTING ACHIEVEMENT
While we understand that is your top priority for your student to increase their grades or test score. True, lasting achievement comes from more than a grade or score. That’s why we believe that our tutoring should not only support students with academic achievement but also with developing a growth mindset. Specifically, we help students develop a growth mindset that centers on everyone’s ability to grow, learn, and achieve through engagement hard work.
